Queer and Now
Everything new in the world of queer TV and film
— I haven't had a chance to check out my screeners yet, so I don't know if Scarpetta will actually be gay or not. What I do know, however, is that nothing brings gay men together like a new Kidders wig.
Nicole Kidman hasn't had the best run of it recently on the small screen, but who cares? Heartbreak feels good in a place likе Prime Video, which is where you'll be able to catch Scarpetta from March 11th.
— It's important to respect our gay elders, which is why I implore you all to watch Bert and Ernie queen out in new episodes of Sesame Street when volume 2 arrives on Netflix March 9th.

— One Piece season two sails onto Netflix March 10th.
I can't spoil anything yet ahead of launch, except that Mackenyu goes shirtless near the start of episode six, and it's probably the best thing you'll see on streaming all year. You are SO welcome.

— A new Thai BL series named Love Like A Bike premiered on GagaOOLala this week. A-lister Masu Junyangdikul stars in the show and KinnPorsche actors Ta Nannakun and Us Nititorn reunite here too (anyone else remember that horny ass show?).
The plot explores a psychological "androphobia" (fear of men) trauma, forcing the leads to build a deep emotional connection without physical contact. Except for this kiss, apparently.

— A gay foodie (not me) named Jacek (Jacek Poniedziałek) hosts his own popular TV show until a sudden stroke forces him to change his life in Viaplay's new comedy drama, The Stroke (Udar).

Queer Awakenings
You know, the hotties who "turned" you gay.
Being gay is NOT a choice. How do I know? Because I was always going to be gay after seeing this as a kid.

Ok, I wasn't a kid, per se, but watching Xavier Dolan and François Arnaud go at it in I Killed My Mother rewired my brain chemistry at 23.

Yes, this François from Heated Rivalry.

Who knew painting in sex could be so much fun?

Celluloid Closet
Must-see queer classics no one should be without
Rachel Weisz had me reconsidering my sexuality for the first time in decades while watching Vladimir this week, so obviously I had to revisit her role in the lesbian classic Disobedience.

Weisz plays New York photographer Ronit Krushka who flies back to London for her father's funeral. There she finds herself tangled up again in the same Orthodox Jewish community that once shunned her for loving a bestie named Esti.
Esti, now played by Rachel McAdams, is unbearably hot, so of course, it's not long until familiar feelings return...
Sebastián Lelio's drama isn't the first to show how religion can suffocate queer expression of any kind. What sets it apart, however, is the specific religious context explored here and how everyone involved is just at the top of their game.
There's also a particularly memorable sex scene which will make lesbians out of me, you, and everyone else watching, regardless of who you were or how you identified before.

McAdams explored the impact of this scene in more depth with EW, describing how integral to the story that tryst was:
"The characters need this release to open up. There was energy to that scene that I haven’t experienced in any other sex scenes [with men] in my career. There was camaraderie to it. We both felt safe and free. All those things that you love about being a woman, you get to be with [in the scene]."
