The problem is that the first *Practical Magic* fared even worse with critics, scoring a measly 30%. If my calculations are correct, that means you're actually going to have 6% more fun with the sequel? I dunno. That's gay math. My point is that straight critics overlooked the original, a bonafide camp masterpiece, upon its release, and they might be doing the same again with this sequel. Go meet your next favourite couple when the show premieres on Viki and GagaOOLala September 12th. — ***Blue Film*** is finally out today in UK cinemas and you really owe it to yourself to watch this film. Elliot Tuttle's debut is far from an easy watch. It's actually quite disturbing at points, so if you're going in purely for the thirst of it all, brace yourselves. It's a somewhat naff psychological thriller, the kind that usually thrives on ITV, but the show is quite enjoyable at points, thanks in no small part to the cast. This being a Ryan Murphy show, you've already decided whether you're going to watch it or not. And if you have decided to watch it, your expectations are already lower than the basement I just flooded following my ninth rewatch of *Heated Rivalry*. But I have some hope for this season still. In between making sourdough, playing *Animal Crossing* and watching the world crumble, you might have missed this sweet Netflix gem which reminded us that this world is worth saving, after all. The documentary, helmed by Chris Bolan, charts the hidden lesbian relationship between a former baseball player, Terry Donahue, and her partner, Pat Henschel, who met in 1947. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/28/91/2891aa17-ae73-4ddb-b44a-370856eda4ac/content/images/2026/09/a-secret-love.webp) Credit: Netflix The pair later moved to Chicago where they kept their love secret from pretty much everyone for almost seven decades. What's wonderful is that they're actually Bolan's two great-aunts, so they're very open when it comes to telling the director their story. And boy, what a story it is. Talking to people outside of the family, they still describe each other as "cousins", and it's in this legacy of shame where *A Secret Love* hits hardest. It's so rare to see queer elders portrayed in such a raw, unfiltered way, and even more so when the elders in question are women. This is queer history at its most vital.
