Euphoria, Charmed and sexy Jesus

Casting Bilal Hasna as our shirtless saviour is a good omen indeed.

Bilal Hasna has been cast as Jesus in the final chapter of Good Omens. Seeing a hottie of Palestinian descent play our shirtless saviour has excited the internet, as you can imagine.

As such, people are starting to look back at some of Hasna's previous roles in Dead Hot (underrated queer show), Layla (more on that later) and Extraordinary (on Disney+). One can only assume the latter was named after his extraordinary tiddies which are all I'm seeing on my timeline right now.

Queer and Now

Everything new in the world of queer TV and film

β€” Euphoria is back but the writing hasn't matured in the same way that these kids are supposed to have in the four year time jump. Everything feels more contrived than usual, desperate to create a meme that will sustain conversations around the show for another week.

Still, that doesn't stop me from wanting to climb Jacob Elordi like a tree.

Read more in my review for Digital Spy here and then look out for season three on Sunday in the US and Monday in the UK.

β€” Margo's Got Money Troubles? Yeah, no shit Margo. We've all got money troubles in this economy. Still, don't let that stop you from watching what might be one of my favourite shows of the year so far.

David E. Kelley, the guy behind Ally McBeal and Big Little Lies, has enlisted Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman for this story of a young mother who turns to OnlyFans for financial security. Pfeiffer mothers as Mother and Grandmother while Kidman also gifts us with one of her best wigs yet.

Check it out weekly on Apple TV+ from Wednesday 15th.

β€” I don't know much about Jonah Hill's new film titled Outcome except it stars Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz and one of my favourite fellow travellers, Matt Bomer.

The only outcome I desire at this point is Bomer with me in a room where there are no others. Stream the film from today on Apple TV+.

β€” American Classic stars Kevin Kline as a narcissistic Broadway star who returns to his hometown after a public meltdown. His character isn't gay though, which is very confusing given the Broadway of it all. Still, the real draw for the homosexuals among us is Laura Linney, a queen who just so happens to be our Mother of the Week.

I sat opposite Linney at a screening last week in London, which means we're best friends now. Catch my bestie soulmate in American Classic on MGM+ from Saturday in the UK.

β€” I haven't had a chance to check out Screams From The Tower yet, but it feels very much in my wheelhouse if this synopsis is anything to go by:

Screams From the Tower is a Midwestern coming-of-age comedy that follows Julien Rosdahl, his best friend Cary, and their queer, outcast group of friends through high school in the mid 1990’s. When Julien and Cary’s dream of having their own show on the high school radio station is finally realized, it brings them a popularity and infamy they never imagined.

Give me all that gay 90s shit please! Anything to remember a time before World War III began.

This John Hughes-esque gay indie is available to watch on VOD in the US from April 14th.

Queer Awakenings

You know, the hotties who "turned" you gay.

Being gay is NOT a choice. How do I know? Because I was always going to be gay after seeing this as a kid.

John Cho has been in everything from American Pie and Harold & Kumar to Star Trek and thrillers like Searching. The only thing he hasn't been in is WHOA WAIT! Never mind.

The best thing Cho has been in though, present company excluded, was an early episode of Charmed back before he was famous.

An irrelevant yet sexy GIF regardless

Titled "Dead Man Dating", this season one highlight starred Cho as a dead man dating... Dating Piper, to be specific, in what's since become a fan-favourite chapter of the show.

Cho's character Mark Chao was murdered in his youth, which is especially tragic given how hot he was. Piper may have the ability to freeze time, but not even her witchy powers could defend her from that jawline. My god.

No love interest could hope to match him. Sorry to Leo.

Out Takes

Queer hidden gems you need to see

Thirst for actor Bilal Hasna has consumed the alphabet people online this week, so now's the perfect time to look back at his drag queen indie film from a few years back.

Layla (2024) follows a struggling British-Palestinian drag artist whose all-consuming relationship tests who they are and how they perceive themselves.

Boyfriend Max (Louis Greatorex) is hot, but he's also a bit of a dick, going out of his way to make Layla feel bad about her drag. Insecurities abound on both sides as they struggle to reconcile their differences without hurting themselves and each other in the process.

British-Iraqi writer/director Amrou Al-Kadhi brings a gorgeous personal specificity to this love story that shines like rhinestones. It's Hasna who shines most though, bringing charm and warmth to the role in ways that help Layla transcend cliche.

Remember, there's power to choosing who you are and who deserves to be in your life. There's also power in choosing to watch underrated queer films worthy of your time, so make sure you check out Layla today.
